Rain or shine, South Hill Running Club brings young athletes together through a shared love of running. Serving the Puyallup and South Hill, Washington communities, this co-ed, nonprofit track, field, and cross-country club coaches athletes ages 7–17 on the fundamentals of endurance, teamwork, and personal growth.
More than just a place to train, South Hill Running Club is a community built around encouragement, commitment, and family. From weekly workouts to competitive meets, the club relies on clear communication, organized schedules, and visible community support — and that’s where PostNet comes in. When Head Coach Jenna needed printed workout schedules for athletes and families, she turned to her local PostNet center. Today, PostNet continues to support South Hill Running Club with yard signs, posters, and large vinyl banners that help friends, families, and coaches cheer on their runners.
Read on to learn more about what inspired the creation of South Hill Running Club and how PostNet helps support their growing team.
The Story Behind South Hill Running Club
South Hill Running Club was founded more than a decade ago to fill a gap in local youth sports programming. A friend of Jenna’s originally started the club about 12 years ago after noticing a disparity in cross-country opportunities for young athletes. While neighboring school districts in Tacoma and Seattle offered boys’ cross-country programs beginning in 7th grade, schools in the South Hill and Puyallup area didn’t offer similar opportunities until 9th grade — putting local athletes at a disadvantage. What began as a solution to that problem quickly evolved.
The club expanded into a co-ed program offering both track and field and cross-country training. Jenna joined as a coach roughly 10 years ago and stepped into the role of Head Coach in September 2022. Today, South Hill Running Club boasts a dedicated coaching staff and a thriving roster of elementary, middle school, and high school athletes.
Creating a Team That Feels Like Family
Ask Jenna what she loves most about running the club, and her answer is immediate: the people.
“I love the team ‘family’ we’ve created over the years. I love my staff and coaches, and I appreciate everything they sacrifice and give to make this team the success that it is!”
That sense of family extends beyond practices and meets. Parents, siblings, and volunteers all play a role in supporting the athletes, making communication and organization essential to keeping the club running smoothly.
How PostNet Supports South Hill Running Club
Jenna’s relationship with PostNet began out of convenience — but it quickly became a partnership built on trust. She initially needed printed workout schedules to share with athletes and their families, and her local PostNet location was close to home. Over time, she continued returning for one simple reason: consistency. PostNet now supports South Hill Running Club with a variety of printed materials, including:
- Workout schedules for athletes and families
- Yard signs to show support at events and in the community
- Posters and signage for meets and announcements
- A large vinyl banner to represent the team with pride
“I continue to return because their consistency with quality, their quick turnarounds, and their overall friendliness make my job so much easier!”
A Local Partnership That Makes a Difference
South Hill Running Club works closely with the Puyallup/South Hill/Sunrise PostNet location, where Jenna is greeted by name every time she walks through the door.
“Genevieve, Jakobi, Cassandra, and several others here know me by name and treat me like family — and that is the nature of my Club as well, so I love working with them!”
Clear communication, patient guidance, and a shared sense of ownership over each project are what Jenna values most in the relationship.
“They treat my projects as if they’re their own. I just can’t say enough good things about PostNet!”
Advice for Aspiring Small Business & Nonprofit Leaders
Running a nonprofit organization comes with its own unique challenges, and Jenna’s advice applies just as much to small business owners as it does to community organizations:
“Do your research in your area of business. Spend the time networking in your area so you can be successful in your endeavors.”
Building relationships — whether with families, volunteers, or local service providers — is key to long-term success.
